TURKISH CAFE

Saray Sultan is a very authentic Turkish Cafe in Jumeirah 3

The Turkish Cafe has a great oudoor terrace on the first floor. It has nothing to do with the similar sounding Zabeel Saray hotel on the Palm Jumeirah!

If you want sheesha, television and loud music, then stop reading now, as the owner has promised none of these will make an appearance! Music to my ears at least.

I really like the food at this Turkish cafe called Saray Sultan, even the drinks were traditionally Turkish and served in a unique Turkish style.

I recommend…

you try the slightly salty Ayran yoghurt type drink that’s very cooling and refreshing, similar to the Indian lassi drink and perfect for our Dubai weather.

The mixed mezzes were great and very good value and we also liked the kebabs made of minced lamb with some fresh salad and red onions with sumac I think on the side.

The bread that comes with the mezze is a bit like an Indian naan, but larger and softer with both black and white sesame seeds on it. Try not to eat too much of this!

Do leave room for dessert, their Knaffe is really fresh, or just opt for the very good Turkish coffee with some equally good Turkish Delight on the side!

Value

Very reasonably priced and great for taking the family for a casual meal, they also deliver to the beach as well.

Location & Final word

The restaurant is just past Reem Al Bawadi on the Beach road past Sunset Set mall. I’ll be going back here, great to take guests to for a casual meal.

SEGRETO DUBAI

Segreto Dubai is an established Italian restaurant in the Madinat Jumeirah

Although the Segreto Dubai restaurant isn’t new, they have just relaunched and reopened the terrace part of their restaurant. The views over the Madinat walkways and buildings are beautiful to look at from all 3 sections of the terrace itself.

There is also an area with comfy sofas. The outdoor terrace and bar is actually on another level to the main dining area. It’s a real hidden away find in the quite touristy set up of the Madinat Jumeirah so I liked Segreto Dubai for that. It’s easy to find though as it’s quite well sign posted from the main entrance to the Madinat.  

An introduction to the food

We didn’t try the food there as it was a media invite to the reopening of the Segreto Dubai terrace but of all the canapes that were going round I’d say my favourite was the soft shelled crab.

They also did an interesting take on pizza without tomato sauce or cheese but with slices of potato and berries!

But I think prefer my Roma pizza from Freedom Pizza!

A bit of insider news

I think they are going to launch a ladies night at Segreto Dubai, I am not sure what the package will include, but that will be a good way to try out the restaurant. It was good to see the manager Emmanuel was from from Naples in Italy and he has a couple of other kitchen staff also from Italy.

TRIBECA DUBAI

Tribeca Dubai is a trendy New York style lounge, restaurant and bar

Tribeca Dubai turned 1 yesterday (January 2016) and they threw a big media party to celebrate. Last night they had a very good saxophonist playing as well.

Location

It’s on the first floor of the Ocean View hotel on the JBR walk and was buzzing with activity yesterday. That’s just opposite the Amwaj Rotana on the corner of the big roundabout.

 Inside

I really liked the feel of it, the slightly quirky decor and the little taste of food I had. Think New York loft style with lots of exposed brickwork on the walls.

They have a dj, a large screen on one side of the restaurant for special screenings, modern, comfy sofas as well as traditional dining areas.

What impressed me about Tribeca Dubai 

I was impressed with their very skilled bar staff.   Cocktails were being prepared with so much precision and included slim shavings of apple in some!  

An introduction to the food at Tribeca Dubai 

We didn’t eat too much at Tribeca Dubai last night as it was a media event, but the mushroom risotto and superfood salad (canape sizes) that I had were both very good. People were dancing but this isn’t a club type place.

They have different promotions during the week including a Ladies Night on Wednesdays from 8pm, the deal includes 2 complimentary drinks and 50% off main courses.

I think its a good  good option if you’d like to have a drink then eat at one of the restaurants on the strip of the JBR walk, try Busaba Eathai or maybe Seven Sands if you fancy Middle Eastern food, but I think the food at Tribeca Dubai would also be good. We’ll try it and update this post! I suspect something vegan is planned soon as well! Stay subscribed to find out.
