The 3rd hotel to open in Al Habtoor City, the Westin has some elegant places to eat and drink. We tried Il Capo, an Italian restaurant. Formal, elegant and I'd say grand almost, the food though is not classic Italian, it's classic American Italian food! We had a set menu supper club deal, Cena, which means dinner in Italian. I'm taking the extended family for fancy pizzas, only AED 55!  They use 2 kinds of wood for the oven, beech and cherry! Also loved the Seasonal Taste all day dining with the Fornasetti candles on the counter! 

Delicious design here at Bean There Bistro, based on the ground level of the Millienium Airport hotel. Brought to us by Abela, the catering people. Loved the fresh, vertical garden wall, the single slab wooden tables and the overall fresh, modern look. Prints from Italy, beautiful, large, round marble tables in a booth arrangement. We had lunch, liked the very fresh tomato and red pepper soup AED 28 for a large portion, very homemade taste. Also liked the crabcakes AED 36 and blueberry ice cream. Fab choice if you were in the area, especially if it's between 5 to 8 pm, any day of the week.  Choose a main course and get 2 beverages for only AED 75.00 or 35% off all food and drink.  That's my Foodie Deal of the Week. Psst the bean refers to the coffee bean, not a vegetable. 

New, community cafe in the Greens. Opened by 2 friends,  Arrows and Sparrows is their 2nd venture, 1st was Friends Avenue in JLT. Nice, fresh feel, enormous portions and it's good food all round. We had breakfast/brunch, I recommend the muesli, no sugar, proper ingredients coated in honey then baked, good plain yoghurt and plenty of berries. AED 30, enough for 2 or 3 to share. The eggs combos also very large, Miss Benedict or a Mr Benedict, expect beetroot puree and crispy kale on the side. Yoga studio on 1st floor! Free parking for 2 hours during the week, bit of an outside area as well. What do the Arrows and Sparrows represent? Can you guess?

Noire's not new but every Wednesday in November they have a special Scottish beverage pairing event. Expertly curated by a visiting Scottish ambassador for the brand, whose family owns the business, a very entertaining evening getting to know people in a completely different way. We met Neil from Edgar magazine who told us about the 20 worldwide ambassadors for the brand. Christopher Chambers from is the local UAE ambassador.  AED 399 for the 3 course meal and 4 special beverage pairings to accompany. (It's Glenfiddich single malt we're talking about here, with a special XX brand made from inputs of the 20 ambassadors from around the world. ) 

A young Greek chef Athena has taken over previously Be Super Natural and heads up Super Natural Kitchen, a cafe in Galleries Lafayette. She cured herself of various nasty issues purely by choosing plant based foods, so that's pretty much vegan meals and she's sharing the food and philosophy with us in Dubai. New menu, new blood at Super Natural. Try the cauliflower rice sushi, really good, the excellent truffle beetroot ravioli with tender greens and a rose petal and walnut salad AED 69. Possibly the nicest thing I've eaten in the last 2 weeks of tastings. Going again for lunch on Thursday. Even have a vegan cheeseboard! 

A new Nakheel development on the Palm, near Oceana, 7 new restaurants with licences in soft opening phase as we speak. I like the sound of Gursha, an Ethiopian restaurant, keen on trying an Ethiopian coffee and some breakfast by the sea. Also excited to try Aji, pronounced Ahee, a dedicated Nikkei only concept, who remembers what that is? Japanese, Peruvian food by the sea from the same group who brought us the home grown Pantry Cafe. Grand opening with fireworks coming soon. Get down there TODAY, as you only pay 50% for your dinner, but you must book before hand on. That offer finishes on 2nd November. Erik is the Japanese/Peruvian chef, so it's going to be good.

A new Turkish place this time on the ground floor of the Grosvenor House in the Marina.

Expect a classy vibe to this quite upmarket but not too formal restaurant. Try the very good citir calamar, that's crispy squid with some avocado and spicy red pepper dip (AED 58) and a chicken kebab from the central oven, it's called a Cag Kebap at AED 35 each small skewer.

It's authentic Turkish cusisne brought to us by Colin Clague, the exec chef who also brought us Zuma and Qbara. There is an outside terrace as well, only open for dinner at the moment.

Have a drink at Rhodes w1 before hand! 

New restaurant in the extension of the Grand Millenium hotel Garhoud, it's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it is licensed too.

This one's big on the blogosphere, I've been recommended to try it, going next week, but we've heard that's it's a really pretty place, great food, drink and decor.

Plus it's reasonably priced so I'll let you know next time but if you want to try it, get down the Grand Millenium hotel. 

Re opened with a new look and new items on the menu, this is my favourite place for breakfast at the moment.

1 of the eateries at Kite Beach, it's bright and blue and white and fresh inside, with a view of the sea. Expect to eat new items like avocado on toast with a poached egg topped with chia seeds. Add an extra egg for AED 5! All the eggs are organic too.

They're also going to start doing barbecue type food, like hot dog and hamburgers and corn on the cob in the smaller, container type place in Al Barsha pond park, from next week! LOVED this.

Open from 8 am to 9 pm on the beach, more new items coming. 

Play isn't new, but the special Chef's Table from Play certainly is.

Located on the 37th floor of the H hotel ABOVE Play restaurant, Chef Reith Othman can cook up a banquet for 12 for brunch, lunch or dinner or even after hours! A bit like stepping into someone's living room and eating at their dining table. 

Minimum you can book for is 2 people, dinner at the moment will cost you around AED 750, lunch will be available soon. (Psst 2 new restaurants opening in the H hotel by the end of the year, or early next year!)

The food isn't limited to one cuisine, so it could be Mediterranean, Asian. You call in advance to say if there are any ingredients or foods you don't eat. 

So the Gourmet 1010 promotion may be over, but you can still try this very classy restaurant in a spectacular setting for their 5 day Diwali promotion dinner, from Oct 30 to 5th of November precisely the days Diwali will be celebrated this year.

AED 300 for the vegetarian option or AED 350  I LOVED this setting, the open plan kitchen, Chef Ashwani and his food.  

Eat things like green pea and burrata cheese kebabs, sweet basil and black peppered chicken tikka,  Goan prawns, and classic Diwali desserts like jalebi with rabri, and saffron ras malai. 

We mentioned this new Happy Hour at the Grosvenor House fro 7 till 11.30 pm every day. AED 25.00 for selected beverages, but now they've got a new little bites menu to go with this Happy Hour, bites priced at AED 30.

Expect things like prawn skewers and salmon sliders. So a very good way to tasting what this restaurant is like, it's actually prettier in real life than in it's pictures.

There's also music, live music on a Thursday and Friday.

We'll talk about Gary's new French influenced menu another time, he spent in holidays  in France, and has come back with a very French influenced menu but retained some favourites, book now if you want to go at Christmas time, it's getting busy! 

Welcome to SCAPE, the newest outdoor restaurant located on the terrace of the Burj Al Arab. Wasn't sure what it meant to dress in Californian Chic though!

I LOVED this new restaurant and bar, a large, stylish beach club feel to the indoor and outdoor terrace restaurant.

Eat well made, artisan type pizzas, heavier seabass dishes or order the crab burger at around AED 125 or so, but this had run out at 3pm the same day! Very affordable way to take visitors or family out to this iconic Dubai landmark.

Opened in May and was called North Gate, now Scape restaurant and bar.
