Welcome to Foodie Tuesday on DUBAI EYE 103.8
DoinDubai is a regular guest on Dubai Eye 103.8 – The Ticket with Mark Lloyd and Stef Burgon.
The Ticket is Dubai’s premier Food and Travel show on the No. 1 English Talk Radio Station in the UAE. My role is to bring a fresh look to the food scene here in the UAE and abroad.
Did YOU get a mention this week?
This week on Dubai Eye 103.8 we are broadcasting from the ARABIAN TRAVEL MARKET 2015 in the World Trade Centre in Dubai. So we’re focusing on our Eat Around the World section.

Eat around the World – Money no Object
DoinDubai is travelling to California on Virgin Atlantic this summer so our podcast focused on Eating Out in Los Angeles!
Thanks so much to the friendly staff at the Los Angeles Visitor Center, the Beverly Hills Visitor Center, the Montage hotel and Terranea resort, a great group of people who were informative, very knowledgable and helpful. So what did they suggest?
Top of the list seems to be the Bouchon Bistro where gorgeous lunch food like quiches, salads, soups are served in the gourmet patisserie on the ground floor. Whilst upstairs there is a more formal restaurant called Bar Bouchon; run by Michelin star chef Thomas Keller.
I loved the sound of SugarFish for a sushi fix, a “chain” of very in demand sushi restaurants all over Los Angeles. We heard about their 3 TRUST ME menus. Leave what you eat up to Chef Nozawa whose philosophy is “Don’t Think, Eat!”
Spaghettini in Beverly Hills sounds like it’ll be a hit with the teenagers and was highly recommended by Hayley from the LA Visitors Center who’d just eaten there last week. Now to me Bottega Louie sounds like something connected to handbags, but NO ! It’s a very upmarket Patisserie that serves “sophisticated snacks”. The good thing about all our LA featured eats is they are mostly walking distance from the very dreamy sounding MONTAGE hotel that has it’s own personal shopper in residence Jo Katz who has a Magic Closet! So I’ll hopefully be reporting from there for a later edition of the TICKET with Mark and Steff.
Staying in California we couldn’t leave without checking out NOBU in Malibu, how does it compare to the NOBU in Dubai? Will your black cod miso taste cooler in Malibu?
I LOVE the sound of THE LITTLE DOOR in West Hollywood. A French style restaurant that comes highly recommended by some friends from Jumeirah. Did you know you could eat in Bart and Homer’s Springfield! A new addition to celebrate Universal Studios 50th anniversary!
I could not finish this post without telling you about an amazing dinner at Social with Heinz Beck who was here for 2 days, definitely one of my later ‘Dinners to Impress’ reveals on my next radio slot (Tuesday 19th May). If in Rome go to Pergola at the Waldorf Astoria in Rome if you can’t wait for Heinz to come back to Dubai!
With an excited Thanks!
Monica
