Dubai Restaurant News: Dining to Impress

It has to be NOVIKOV, the Russian import from London’s Mayfair, now located at the Sheraton Grand hotel. It’s connected to the Sheraton Grand on Sheikh Zayed road but stands alone it terms of valet parking, management etc. You’ll find very high quality pan Asian food here with lots of fresh fish and of course an obligatory Black Cod Miso. There is no official menu as yet so I can’t tell you how much it’ll cost but save this for a really special occasion. More Asian food than Italian in Dubai. I wonder if they’ll have their private jet and take away menu here in Dubai! Soft opening as I blog, but official opening in September, can’t wait to try this one! A lounge, bar and restaurant all on one huge floor. Speaking of all things Russian, I highly recommend the movie Child 44 based on the book by Tom Rob Smith.

Dubai Restaurant News: New to Dubai

PI DUBAI. So called because in New York pizza is called Pizza Pie, so just leave off the e and call it Pi! Not an American import or branch of an existing restaurant, this is a home grown, good quality Italian dining option for when you’re shopping at Dubai Mall. Located on the lower ground floor near Yo Sushi, it serves interesting dishes like Pizza Gnocchi, no not heavy but light and tasty, open for lunch and dinner. It’s run by 2 Dubai expats who’ve given their Italian a Middle Eastern twist and has been open since the beginning of August 2015, so just 3 weeks.

Dubai Restaurant News: Tea for 2 (Great for a girlie catch up or a treat for someone special)

This Friday 28th of August has been designated Emirati Women’s day by Her Highness Sheika Fatima bint Mubarak and to celebrate The Four Seasons SHAI SALON is offering 2 types of high tea deals to all us gals this Friday! I LOVE the sound of the date and cardomom scones with fig marmalade and orange sour cream with pomegranate syrup.  Traditional Arabic style set tea is just Dhs 160 for 2. Or try some of the more English cucumber sandwiches and smoked salmon with cakes and macaroons for Dhs 180 for 2. Fabulous tea deal overlooking the sea from air conditioned comfort! Book before you go though and this deal is for the ladies only. Sorry chaps! Spa and beauty deals on too.

Dubai Restaurant News: Best in Category

I think this will be the new ZHENG HE’S Chinese restaurant at the Madinat Jumeirah. Due to re-open early September having had a brand new make over, this established restaurant that’s part of the Jumeirah group will have it’s own resident Duck Master Specialist! So if it’s crispy duck and pancake memories you have from London or elsewhere, then try here. Gorgeous setting overlooking the water on the lower ground floor of the Mina A Salam hotel.

DISCLAIMER for this week! I am basing this week’s post and chat on some conversations I have had with my Dubai Foodie restaurant insiders whose judgement I value very highly but as I’ve been away and some of these restaurants aren’t properly open as yet, I haven’t tried them before telling you what they’re like. There will be a follow up chat on whether our expectations were met or even exceeded.

We're very fussy about who we want our brand associated with, Monica is one of a small select group of Dubai media we love to work with.
TACTICAL AGENCY ON BEHALF OF OUR TABLE UAE
I was pleasantly surprised with the size and interest of the audience at the Emirates Lit Fest talk for my book: Saudi Arabia - Vision or Mirage. I have no doubt this engagement is down to your excellent radio mention ahead of the event. Thank you Monica
