AL FRESCO DUBAI

AL FRESCO DUBAI Let's Go Outside

It's almost our best weather time so that means Al Fresco Dubai as far as eating is concerned! Hear about our Top Picks for the coming month or two.  Groovy terraces, sublime sea views and some cool pavement cafes, let's go outside and taste some good weather.  And something scary but totally safe food wise for a Happy Halloween! LISTEN TO THE PODCAST below and the sound bites to get all the foodie details...

FROM SAN FRANCISCO BAY TO BUSINESS BAY

Dubai has a brand new poke place! Fresh, raw fish, cooked rice, vegetables, and dressings all in a bowl. There are also veggie options or you can have cooked chicken and fish. That’s a nod to the tastes of the local poke market. It’s a simple café with a small outside section, right in front of a bit of Business Bay. Welcome to Cali Poke from yes California.

You can eat in or outside but take away and delivery is also very popular. Healthy, clean and fresh, it's ok to sit at but access isn't the that easy. Look for Churchill Towers and park on rough ground. Poke is really cool and very popular in London now

Poke is really cool and very popular in London now too...

MEET YOU AT THE CABIN CAFE IN AL BARSHA

Literally from the highlands of Scotland to the lowlands of Al Barsha! A real cubby hole café complete with artist’s studio and Christmas present inspiration. We had breakfast there last week and enjoyed the taste of our toast!

Open for breakfast, lunch and early suppers, Cabin Dubai has a cute courtyard with hanging vines and wrought iron chairs. Almost opposite Formarke school.

Listen to Johnny telling you more about it...

FILL UP ON SOME TALISE FUEL IN JUMEIRAH

Same interiors, same delicious views, but an all-new menu from Chef Gaby at Talise Café. Glow and Detox Al Fresco Dubai style for AED 80. That would get you a plant-based protein, think halloumi or mozzarella and 2 vitamins, so some raw slaw and raw green leaves and a salsa, so some guacamole or turmeric hollandaise. The Rice Paper rolls at AED 55 are a must. A cheaper way to eat there and a top breakfast tip is to try their Talise Gourmet Grazing Board for breakfast at AED 110 but 2 could share and you get free flow tea and coffee too!

PIZZA ON THE PALM

We really felt like we were on holiday here, along side the water with plants and rocks, and no buildings in front of us other than a private island!

Al Fresco Dubai natural surroundings Il Faro

Where am I eating my pizza? It’s on the beautiful terrace at Il Faro part of the Azure Residences on the Palm Jumeirah. Good pizza and parmigiana melanzane in a fabulous licenced setting.

Al Fresco Dubai Il Faro

There is a Ladies Night deal every Tuesday for unlimited bubbles and pizza for AED 150. I liked it there during the day though. They also have apperitvo hour earlier on in the evening every day when drinks are also on offer.

DO YOU FANCY EATING AN ARTISANAL BREAKFAST IN BUSINESS BAY?

Head down to Eat Artisanal Bakery in Bay Square. Excellent value breakfast items served from early in the morning.

Al Fresco Dubai Eat menu

We had the usual avo on toast with some eggs and yogurt pot sides with pancakes we swore we wouldn’t eat but we did anyway.

Al Fresco Dubai Eat Artisanal Bakery

Pleasant surroundings with outside seating in Bay Square, a new concept with a branch about to open in JLT. Their Signature Breakfast Bruschetta at AED 38 is very good value.

Car park D in Building 11.

SOMETHING NOT TOO SCARY FOR HALLOWEEN

Scary Matto Vita in the Oberoi Italiano style...We really liked our lunch at Matto at the Oberoi. They’ve got some new items on their menu but I loved their pizzas. The vibe is really cool and it was nicely buzzy even on a weekday lunchtime.

Al Fresco Dubai Matto Halloween

So I would maybe op up to Iris to have some drinks Al Fresco Dubai first and then go down and have some pizza and pasta at Matto. They have a cool offering on November 1st for their Halloween.

Listen to Michele, the restaurant manager telling us all about it...
