What’s Barsalata Downtown Dubai all about
Barsalata Downtown Dubai is not a salad bar although it’s easy to think it is from the name. It’s a home grown concept that focuses on healthy food put together in an appetizing, affordable way. So yes there’s plenty of vegetarian options, even some vegan choices, but it’s not limited to just veggie food.
I really enjoyed my smoked salmon with avocado and eggs on sourdough toast. Well worth a visit, it’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s lovely to visit during the day though as there is so much natural light in Barsalata Downtown Dubai.
What kind of food and drink is there at Barsalata
We had a brunch type of tasting here and were delighted to try some genuinely new items. For example the Mocha Latte Quinoa, that’s quinoa cooked in a cafe latte topped with cooca nibbs, fresh berries and vanila yoghurt. I could eat this every day for breakfast and I’m NOT a quinoa fan! This dish was very shareable at AED 34.
If you want something sweet then try the courgette cake, again served with a little yoghurt. Salads are good too and are served with healthy dressings using labneh, lemon, olive oil and herbs, no mayonnaise here! I also really liked the felafel oven baked muffins, so eat guilt free as they’re not deep fried.
I would also really recommend the juices and blends, we had a taste of 4 of them, depending on how hungry you feel. The zingiest was the green apple, celery and ginger, but again they use local ingredients, try their sumac lemonade for something really different, or a coconut chai latte, very substantial.
What’s the ambience of Barsalata
It’s light, bright and airy and has an almost California feel about it, that’s why I think it’s great to visit during daylight. It would make a great venue for a school mums coffee morning/breakfast, I don’t think anyone would need much lunch after breakfast here. On the other hand, a fresh juice for those who don’t like eating much in the morning would also be well received. But do car pool.
My top picks at Barsalata Downtown Dubai
I really liked the Quinoa cooked in caffe latte, their courgette cake and their vegan sandwich with roasted vegetables and hummus, apparently assembled under regal request!
Where is Barsalata Downtown Dubai
Barsalata is located in the Downtown area of Dubai on the same line as the Vida hotel, so it’s just near the Al Manzil, Qamardeen signboards at the entrance to the low rise Old Town flats. If you’re parking underground then you have to park underground. I think this would be nearest. Or you could walk from Dubai Mall, if you can get to the Burj Plaza bit of it, then cross the road. The Karak cafe next door does have valet parking for around AED 40.00
