UPDATED 29TH SEPTEMBER 2015 Broadcasting live from the Hotel Show World Trade Centre Dubai.ย
Welcome to FOOD NEWS my new slot.ย
Food News is my new slot on Dubai Eye 103.8 from 3.30 to 4 pm on Tuesdays! I’m chatting to Mark Lloyd, Stef Burgon and Zarah Soar! ย Find out what’s happening, what’s new on the restaurant scene, which places have relaunched a menu or re opened with a brand new look!
This week on Food News with Monica hear about our night at Novikov…Is it worth it?
Food News at Novikov Dubai
Sublime Asian food from this Russian import via London’s Mayfair. I’ll walk you through our Night at Novikov! Here’s a taster video of some of the dishes we tried.
Bottom line, save this restaurant for a very special occaison! Hamachi is definitely on the menu here! But not going to officially open till the end of September (Grand opening tonight actually 29th September with a special Chef’s Showcase!) ย but still at 80% capacity most nights!
I’ll have to return for the duck as it’s the most authentic duck (in a restaurant) I have seen in Dubai so far, although Zheng He’s ย is about to re-open and they have a resident duck master specialist so promises to be good there too ! You can also do your fresh food shopping here if you can afford it.
Food News at Cove Beach
A new Breakfast Menu at Cove Beach at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel. An enviable location with incredible views of the Burj Al Arab and the Jumeirah Beach, have a leisurely cappucino or a bigger breakfast in this light, white space in front of the sea. I didn’t as yet notice any gluten free on the menu though! Maybe that’s to come, but a couple of scrambled eggs, toast and a coffee or tea for Dhs 55 not bad for surroundings that you’re in. The yoghurt granola pot for Dhs 25 was also good value, but this menu needs to incorporate a bit more of the the Rooftop Grill at the Montage in Beverly Hills! Dreamy breakfast salads and so much gluten free, much more imaginative!
Food News at Mercury Lounge
Mercury Lounge re opens it’s doors after a long summer break. Located on the 6th floor of the Four Seasons hotel in Jumeirah, it’s USP for me is the fact it has 2 totally different views of Dubai! You can see the Dubai skyline and the whole of Downtown area on one side and then the Jumeirah beach and the hotel landscaped pools and the sea on the other! Opening party on Tuesday 15th of September, maybe I’ll see you there? Mercury Lounge is going to have themed party events, all open to the public. The next one being James Bond, the one after that is a Hakuna Matata ย (no problem in Swahili) African night!
Remember great deals on safaris from Gamewatchers for all DoinDubai subscribers if you still want to get away for a break!
And Mercury Lounge is also launching a new ladies night called High Heels in the City from Tuesday 6th of October, it’s going to be on Tuesdays the deal is 50% off food and drink! That’s no problem! But sshh will you be lucky enough to try the food at the special Chef’s Table on the 7th floor? ย Listen out!
Food News at The Croft
Officially launched on September 10th 2015ย Darren Velvick of Table 9 at the Hilton now head chef here, British cuisine and I like the sound of Fish and Chips for Dhs 90.00! Located at the Dubai Marriot Harbour hotel and suites. Only open for dinner at the moment.
Food News in Box Park Kuai
In Box Park,ย this new Chinese restaurant’s unique feature is it has no MSG in the food, and I think the honey grilled seabass at Kuai for Dhs 70 is a pretty good substitute if you can’t afford your Black Cod Miso at Novikov or Catch for Dhs 220 Also have very good chicken buns and salt and pepper squid. And the chefs are all Chinese so flavours here are authentic.
The podcast for this show is NOW HERE! Have a listen!
Thanks Monica.
