DIVAN PATISSERIE DUBAI MALL
Divan Patisserie from Turkey has opened in Dubai Mall!
Head over here if your visitors or other halves are Christmas shopping. Loved the proper, white linen table cloths, silver cutlery and real coffee cups and saucers! Cappucinos at AED 16
If you're planning some catering at Christmas then order these really good dessert pots for AED 25 for 4 pots! Choose raspberry and chocolate. They look like they're from a hotel buffet, but they're much, much tastier!
Gorgeous gifts of nougat and pomegranate Turkish Delight.

JAAN SOFITEL SZR
I really liked the food at Jaan. On the 31st floor of the Sofitel Downtown.
Don't let the word fusion/molecular gastronomy or progressive put you off. Focus on the food!
I recommend the delicious paneer sabzi, it's called butter paneer scramble with the amritsari kulchas. Try the very unIndian sounding Hunter's Poussin, that's AED 105 with the spicy chutney. It's more like an Afghani kebab, delicious and I LOVED the spicy beetroot chutney served with it.
I think the lounge area was really nice, and I'd like to go back and eat here. Fab soundtrack too!
Full review of Jaan in an earlier post.
I like that he listened to constructive suggestions and customer feedback, so apparently it's a bit lighter and they've added some white table cloths to the dark tables, so our insta pics come out better!

AJI AT CLUB VISTA MARE
Aji. In a word GO! I really liked this Nikkei restaurant.
High levels of food quality and presentation, service, beverages and lovely setting as well. Eat al fresco in front of the sea for Christmas or any time.
The spicy tuna (maguro) sushi with mango at AED 50 for 8 pieces is fabulous value. Also try the tuna tacos and I also really liked the causa with King crab.
We didn't try too many of the hot, grilled things, apart from the ebi prawns, but I'm going back. LOVED it!
Some ladies nights deals on the way, I think on a Monday night. Another great soundtrack too!

GURSHA AT CLUB VISTA MARE
Gursha is another of the 7 new, licensed restaurants on the Palm, this time Ethiopian.
We tried injera, that's Ethiopian bread that is made from teff, so great for the gluten free gang. You can have it with a variety of stews, lentils and vegetables, all communal style. So that means you share one massive Ethiopian thali, and you can have vegetarian or non vegetarian.Flavours and textures will be new to many people but worth a try.
A very well designed restaurant, with elegant interiors, but I recommend you sit on the little wooden stools outside the restaurant and have an authentic Ethiopian coffee!

PINEAPPLE EXPRESS ON THE PALM
It's opened on the newest boardwalk in Dubai, this time on the Palm, opposite Atlantis.
Just a food truck that they share with Tribeca street food, it's the ONLY place to go to for your authentic acai breakfast bowl. Medium bowl of acai, from South America via Australia, with fresh berries, banana, chia seeds and a secret recipe muesli, made by Leigh from Brisbane, a born again health nut!
Be warned, it's a still a little bit hot, so wear a hat, and you'll have to pop in to Atlantis if you need the loo.
Open from 9am to 9pm or so, try a cold pressed coffee while you're there. AED 45 for a big breakfast bowl, better than any dessert I've had in a long time.

PIZZA ON THE FARM
There's a new place to eat Pizza, this time on the Farm!
It's got a brand new pizzeria, and you can eat in a gorgeous, white pavilion, it felt a bit like Bali to me!
We haven't tried the pizzas because we went at breakfast time, but they cost between AED 55 and AED 80 depending on your toppings.
Open at 12 noon, every day for pizzas. Best to book. Still a beautiful setting. And Jazz nights have started on a Tuesday from 7 to 9pm!
