JAPANESE SUPERMARKET IN DUBAI

Find a Japanese supermarket in Dubai

An authentic, well stocked, friendly Japanese supermarket in Dubai opens near Lamcy Plaza (Karama)

Real Japanese Ingredients from the Japanese Supermarket in Dubai

DoinDubai visited this Japanese supermarket in Dubai and stocked up on all manner of Japanese ingredients and sushi making gear to try and recreate an Oriental feast at home.

DoinDubai would recommend buying Buckwheat noodles too especially if you’re avoiding gluten, easy to cook and then simply add to one of the many varieties of high quality miso broths with a mug of boiling water for a delicious, low calorie but sustaining snack.

Or how about buying multipack bags of delicious savoury Japanese rice crackers, great for late morning munchies and a super alternative to a bag of crisps for the kids lunchboxes. Again they are gluten free and generally baked and not fried. Try them at evening drinks parties as well.

Rice crackers available in Dubai

DoinDubai also bought sushi mats, sushi seasoning, Japanese ginger and large, comforting tubs of miso paste that even the teenagers could use as a base for soups with vegetables, chicken or prawns, lasts for a month or so in the fridge.

Non Food Items at the Japanese supermarket in Dubai

The Japanese emporium also sells gorgeous Oriental crockery: pretty, delicately painted bowls, plates and teacups, all of which are very versatile for any kind of snacks or hot drinks. A little more expensive than Daiso but I thought the designs were much better and the quality finer.

The Japanese supermarket has an unusual name: Deans Fujiya and there is also a Japanese Café with the same name a couple of doors down that used to exist across the road but has recently relocated next to the supermarket!

Click here for what you NEED TO KNOW about how to get to Deans Fujiya Japanese supermarket and café and if you love all things Japanese you may want to try Yamanote, an upmarket Japanese bakery in in the swankier Al Wasl square end of town.

    Hi Louise,

that’s strange! I was there before the summer holidays and it certainly there! There is a Korean supermarket along Sheikh Zayed road and one in Al Barsha, both are reasonably well stocked. Type in Korean supermarket in the search button of the blog! Thanks Monica.

Hi there, I went out today to find the Deans Fujiya Japanese supermarket today – but unfortunately it was not there. Do you know if they have closed it down? In case, could you recommend any other well stocked Japanese supermarkets? Thanks

Well I was taken to London’s Royal China on Baker Street years ago by a friend who lived in Hong Kong who said this is what Chinese food is like there, we’ve been hooked ever since, the Royal China in DIFC is really good, but sadly still doesn’t match the London branches, first port of call for my girls when we visit…

Thanks for the comment, much appreciated,

Let me know if you like Royal China in DIFC…

    Kindest regards, Monica.

    March 24, 2014 at 1:22 pm

Interesting…I don’t know what London Chinese would be like because I’m American. We lived in a particularly big Chinese community in the US, so I think I’m used to “authentic” flavors. But who knows! China is so big and their foods are so diverse depending on from what region it comes.

I’ll look at Royal China. I’ve been meaning to go to a dinner w/ my husband in DIFC area anyways.

  13. Monica says

    March 19, 2014 at 11:35 am

Hmm, sadly that does happen here, apart from Royal China we havent found a really good London type Chinese restaurant in Dubai either, although Hukama at the Address is nice.

    Thanks for the comment,

    Kindest regards,

    Monica

I haven’t been to the Fujiya restaurant since it moved from around the corner to a couple doors down from the market. A friend has gone and she says it is definitely authentic (she should know, she spent like a decade in Japan and is also married to a Japanese man).

I recently went to a Japanese restaurant at City Walk and was shocked at how poorly it was trying to replicate Japanese flavors. Would never go there again!
