Try a South Indian Breakfast this month – mostly naturally vegan
UPDATED July 2022
Bikanerwala has a NEW BRANCH YAY!! Where? Jumeirah/Um Suqueim side of town, opening with a full kitchen on TUESDAY 2nd August. Prices not too bad either. Happy Days.
If you fancy a THALI MEAL IN DUBAI then see our comprehensive post here. The meal below is almost vegan, just don’t eat the yoghurt or pudding! 2 bowls on the right.
The 5 days of Diwali celebrations ended yesterday so family obligations and Diwali parties now over meant that the Indian mums from school could meet up for a post Diwali South Indian Breakfast. Try a South Indian breakfast as a change to your regular morning meal and I guarantee you won’t need lunch!
Where to find a good South Indian Breakfast in Dubai
We decided on Bikanerwala’s
…in Al Barsha for a South Indian breakfast brunch near Lulus hypermarket (well sort of near as now there are so many roadworks in this area at the moment) on the way to Mall of Emirates, look for the Dominoes Pizza sign, it’s almost next door. Remember you order and pay at the counter first, collect a ticket or a pager, then go and collect your fresh food from a counter.
What is a South Indian Breakfast?
No croissants, fruit or eggs at our breakfast although the gluten free fans would have been in heaven with all the rice and lentil batter bases for all things savoury and delicious.
Don’t take my word for it, have a look for yourself on the video
What to choose for a South Indian Breakfast in Dubai
DoinDubai’s pick would be a Rava masala dosa, a spicy semolina based dosa with a fluffy filling of potatoes and green peas served with fresh coconut chutney. Do show some love for this post by sharing with all of you who are looking for an alternative place for breakfast, sorry they don’t serve food on banana leaves just yet. Thalis are also good as is all the street food such as Bhel Puri and Sev Poori, both cold dishes served with a tamarind yoghurt sauce, delicious! Leave a comment if this post has inspired you to try a South Indian Breakfast in Dubai!

You should try South Indian, specifically Tamil Nadu breakfast at Vasanta Bavan. Much more authentic and yummy!

Thanks! This looks really yummy and not too far from me! I think I will try it. Back home, I got to try some of the vegetarian foods offered at local Diwali events and just loved it. Even if you are not a vegetarian, you still enjoy all the savory dishes.
