DoinDubai is a regular guest on Dubai Eye 103.8 ‘s show The Ticket with Mark Lloyd and Stef Burgon. The Ticket is Dubai’s premier Food and Travel show on the number 1 English talk radio station in the UAE Dubai Eye 103.8. ย My role is to bring a fresh look to the food scene here in the UAE and abroad.

New to Dubai?
This week I suggest Tre : straight from Roberto’s in the DIFC. This 3 storey restaurant will open this week. Roberto Rella is now setting up a new home on the 49th floor of the Radisson Royal Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road. 3 different types of vibe to match 3 different types of cuisine. I am attending a media preview on Wednesday so I can follow up with a review at a later date; its bound to be Tre good!
Best for a first date under Dhs 500
Definitely Busaba Eathai: a Thai chain from London which is finally in Dubai at the Beach end of JBR. With communal tables, good, modern Thai food; it is a great buzzy restaurant. Sadly no Singha Thai beer and I suggest you don’t valet park your car!
Best for Breakfast
No need for lunch if you eat Breakfast at Gluten Free Cafe, the Sweet Connection in DIFC. ย Enjoy Gluten Free Quiche with roasted vegetables and healthyย egg white omlette, spinach, chicken. Breakfast is available all day in the week, but closed at the week ends.
Best in Category for a particular type of cuisine so this week it’s Chinese
Xiao Fei Yang or Little Fat Sheep ! Authentic Hot Pot restaurant in International City!
Dining to Impress in Dubai
Dinner at Social at the Waldorf Astoria with Heinz Beck -a ย 3 star Michelin Chef. There is a whole new post on this coming up in the blog together with a video and more pictures. Learn about the Taste of Waldorf dish Celery Risotto a la Waldorf. ย Fabulous food and a really pleasant man to speak to. Social impressed me.
Eat around the World – Money no Object
ATTICAย restaurant in the suburb of Ripponlea just outside Melbourne, Australia. It also has a fabulous Extended Vegetarian menu items like walnuts, wild mushrooms, honeycomb and bunya bunya! Type of chestnut that contributed to food sustenance of the Aboriginal people if they lived near these trees. Number 32 on the Top 50 restaurant list for 2014. Cost is roughly 125 Aus dollars for a set tasting menu about Dhs 360 or so.
