La Mar at Atlantis The Royal serves high quality, authentic Peruvian food with spectacular views. We really enjoyed our food, the well made cocktails and exemplary service.

La Mar by chef Gaston Acurio specialises in Peruvian dishes with a focus on ceviche using the freshest seafood and traditional ingredients.
A great choice for serious foodies who want to have a fun evening out at a high end venue. Read on for what we think you should try.
La Mar Atlantis The Royal – The Peruvian Menu
We recommend you try any of the ceviche dishes, the classic and or the nikkei style options.
In the picture below the accompaniments are sweet potatoes and Peruvian corn. The leche de tigre dressing tasted just as it should and we would definitely order this again.

Our whole party praised the tuna tiradito plate that tasted as good as it looked.
See feature picture above.

A good dish for sharing is the piqeuo style prawns that are designed to be eaten with mini lettuce type taco cups.
The large crab type dish they’re served in is a real show stopper for the table!
We also opted for a fresh grilled fish, that was expertly filleted and served at our table. I would order this again.
Don’t miss the crispy on the outside, fluffly on the inside cassava potato fries, eaten before I could get a picture!

Peruvian Dessert
The dessert recommended to us was a rich cacao based caramel with a crispy quinoa topping that balanced the sweetness of the creamy pudding underneath.

If you opt not to have dessert, you still get offered the beautiful and very unique chocolate selection that highlights real Peruvian ingredients like tonka bean and lucuma.
We thought it was a cigar box! This is a beautiful and very thoughtful addition to the food selection at La Mar. I loved this chocolate curation.

A word about chef Gaston Acurio – he was lawyer before becoming a chef and has now opened 8 La Mar restaurants world wide with Madrid and Seattle being the 9th and 10th venues.
There is also a La Mar in Doha.

The Drinks at La Mar – Atlantis The Royal
Peruvian Piscos are definitely on the menu here and made with a lot of style.
Ask for the pisco menu to see the variety.
Setting of La Mar Atlantis The Royal
A really impressive ride to the restaurant in a dedicated elevator through to the large terrace with views of the fountains and the Dubai skyline.
The setting doesn’t disappoint and you feel like you’re in a special place, but Gaston’s philosophy was to keep the focus firmly on the food.

So there is no plush velvet upholstery or showy interior feel. The idea is to let the cuisine be what you talk about in terms of how it looks, tastes and emotion it creates when you try it.
A great choice for serious foodies who love Peruvian food in refined surroundings. I would definitely go again.
NOTE
This post was written in conjunction with La Mar but the views are entirely my own.
