The capital of Vietnam, the name of it’s former president, is Ho Chi Minh city and it takes around 25 minutes drive to get to the centre of the city from the airpot. You do need to apply on line for most passports before hand in order to collect your visas on arrival to Vietnam. (Leave me a comment if you want the name of the excellent visa company we used) HCM is in the Southern most part of the country, 2 hours flight from Hanoi, and an hour’s flight away from Da Nang (Hoi An and beaches)
Emirates flies direct from Dubai to HCM at 9.30 am and the flight time is roughly 7 hours. Vietnam is 4 hours ahead of Dubai. I would definitely suggest doing a tour of the city, use a guide or Emirates holidays www.Emiratesholidays.com can organize your bookings and transfers for you.
There are a clutch 5 star hotels in the city, but just stay at the Park Hyatt hotel Saigon in District 1 and do mention doindubai if you book.
www.hyatt.com is the hotel website and it’s at 2, Lam Son Square District 1

Top tip, when you’re thirsty, just drink cold coconut water from the many street stalls and the tiny kiddie type chairs really are for grown ups to sit on and relax for a few minutes !
