ORIGAMI SUSHI

I LOVED lunch at Origami Sushi, it’s affordable, fresh sushi, right by the sea.  You are not in a hotel, yet it feels like you’re on holiday right here in Dubai.

Try Origami Sushi Fusion in Dubai and tell me I’m wrong! Their concept is fusion sushi so it’s sushi as we know it but with some very welcome twists, like a slightly chillier miso soup for instance.

Where is Origami Sushi

Origami Sushi is on the 1st floor of an area called Al Suq. Turn off the Jumeirah Beach road at the MacDonalds/petrol pump just past or before (depending on your diretion) the Burj Al Arab. Go to the end of the road, and you’ll see Al Suq and the sign pictured below. Turn left and park where you can, you are actually allowed to go into the complex and park there too, it’s free and you don’t have to own a boat either!

To Eat at Origami Sushi

Whatever you feel like, but I recommend the miso soup, the yellowtail and the crispy baby squid. We ordered this twice it was so good. Gorgeous service to match the seaside views, just no glass of chilled rose! Oh well….

Go now while the weather is delicious too!

What else is there to explore in this fishing harbour location

There are a couple of cafes, a branch of the famous Bu Qtair and a place that serves similar fried fish and prawns called Al Fannah. But they also say they serve dosas in the mornings! From 9am, I shall try and report back to my readers!

  3. Hi Natalie,

thanks so much for leaving a comment! That really helps the blog..I think you’d really like this place, the bill will depend on how hungry you are, but I reckon about AED 125 per head would include some really nice options and green tea to drink, miso soup to start and a shared dessert, go for the chocolate fondant! Slightly pricey at AED 40 but good enough for 2 easily! Please mention to the manager Mr Aloice (prounounced Allo Iss) you came on seeing it in DoinDubai! Thanks.

Do subscribe to the blog if you haven’t already, lots more deals and lesser known places! It’s free to subscribe and you can automatically enter all competitions! This is a good deal at Agency at the Madinat too

  4. Hi Monica,

I have actually been in Dubai for months now and never known about this hidden gem. I simply devour Japanese and definitely going to try this place. I visited a few others like Wagamama, but this looks totally rustic and awesome.

Can you mention the pocket pinch for two? a rough estimate would be great thanks!

  5. Hi Elizabeth, yes you can also hire boats from here too! Unlikely we’ll be lucky with the rose, red or white as I don’t think any licences will be issued for this area unless a hotel comes up!

Warmest regards and thanks for your comment!

  6. Hi Monica
It does look a lovely place to visit, but it looks more like a marina than a fishing village. Were you able to see fishermen bringing in their catch? No Rose! A woman after my own heart. Do you think they might take the hint?
