The Resort
The Silhouette Labriz resort on the Island of Silhouette in the Seychelles has only been managed by the Hilton Group since March 2011, although the resort has been up and running for about 5 years. This is the only resort on Silhouette (25 mins by boat from Mahe) apart from the very newly opened la Belle Tortue guest house on the picturesque jetty.

The Facilities
The hugely tranquil and totally natural Aquum Spa is a few minutes walk away or short buggy ride from our Deluxe Ocean View Villa style room. (click here to read more about that) The spa itself is built on a number of levels, but instead of the spectacular heights of the Four Seasons Spa in Mahe- the capital of the Seychelles, you’re much closer to nature here and the typical Seychelles boulders form part of the intimate decking area. It’s not large but there is only one other couple here apart from our family who alternate between the jade green, cold pool, jacuzzi and steam room. The sea is clearly visible and only a couple of minutes walk away via a meandering path of tropical trees, rocks and sand that take you right past the Presidential Suite Villa.
Water and tea are complimentary at the spa, my suggestion is to first swim and enjoy the wide beach and clear sea to the left of the spa area, no sun beds here, just trees, sea and sand, and then walk for a few minutes back to the facilities of the spa and write down your thoughts.

The Food
Just so you know, food quality at the resort was mixed. Lunches principally the pizzas and club sandwich type snacks were fine, but dinner in the main restaurant and their speciality Italian should have been better. Breakfast needed sprucing up too, but it was Easter weekend and the resort had just been taken over by Hilton, hopefully food will improve. Silhouette is an interesting island with a tiny working village school, shop and assembly hall, all on the beach !

The hotel offers 3 free treks round the island ranging from a gentle 45 minutes to half day exploring different beaches. We walked from the jetty to Anse Lascare, it has a rugged beauty and has stories that will remind you of Famous Five Pirate adventure tales. Walking and exploring this island is well worth it, but if velvet sand and clear sea all round you is what you want, then you need to go a little out of your way at Labriz as much of the sea just outside your room (unless you’re staying at the Presidential suite) is quite rocky.

700 meters is fine for able bodied, healthy people, but it’s alot for some elderly people who may have walking difficulties also for families with tiny children and lot’s of equipment, getting to and from a place quickly especially when it’s extremely hot is very important so I beleive the buggies do serve a useful purpose, thanks for posting. Monica
Please stop talking about the shuttle bus. This small cars spoil the whole athmosphere of Silhouette. From Labriz to La Belle Tortue is exactly 700 meters. A nice walk through te only village of the island. Silhouette is nature’s paradise.
Hi Steve, well it seems Sanjay Nair has left this property,
Re La Belle Tortue, yes you can walk there, but use the free hotel shuttle bus, I’m sure prices at La Belle Tortue will be reasonable for food, do try the walk from here to Anslascare, but do so in the daytime, not in the evening.
Re rooms, I loved our Deluxe Beachfront Pool Villa, room numbers 401 to 409, but you will see the occasional person walk by the beach behind your garden area, it didn’t bother me at all, I preferred it to the tropical hill side setting, and you are near the very private spa, but a longish walk (10 mins) to the other end of the resort, where you’d get the buggy to La Belle Tortue. http://www.labelletortue.com
Hope this helps, Monica from https://www.doindubai.com
Thanks for the very useful review! My wife and I are thinking of visiting Labriz in May. I have a few questions, if you have time to reply:
1. You mentioned la Belle Tortue guest house. Is it within walking distance of Labriz? If so, about how many minutes walk?
2. Would you suggest la Belle Tortue as an alternative place to dine? Do you have any sense of how much lunch or dinner for two would cost there, including or excluding drinks?
3. As for Labriz itself, if we have a choice would you recommend a hillside or ocean view villa, in terms of privacy or any other considerations.
And happy holidays!
Cheers,
Steve
This was an amazing holiday! I loved it so much 🙂
