AIR FRYER SPICY PRAWNS DOINDUBAI FINISHED DISH

Air Fryer SPICY PRAWNS Indian Style

A versatile, tasty prawn dish, cooked in minutes with barely any preparation once your prawns are cleaned and defrosted. Curry Leaves very easy and cheap to get here in Dubai.

INGREDIENTS Indian Style

medium size prawns 

Oil for spraying

RUB MARINADE

Salt 

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 tsp red chilli powder

1 tsp mustard seeds

1 to 2 stems fresh curry leaves

1 tablespoon grapeseed oil

HOW TO MAKE IT

Make sure prawns are defrosted if using frozen prawns.

We buy them from the Fish Market in Dubai and ask for them to be cleaned and for the head to be taken off. You can have them prepared as you prefer, but the prawns taste more tender if you have a little shell on and it’s a big part of the fun to lick off the spciy marinade rub with your fiingers!

Spray the base of air fryer plate twice with oil spray

Heat up the air fryer to 190 degrees C for 3 minutes 

Mix all the dry ingredients for the marinade rub up in a medium size bowl.

Toss in the washed and patted dry prawns with shell into the dry rub and make sure each is well covered with the mixture.

Add in the oil and mix around again.

Tip into the air fryer when it’s warmed up. Set it at 180 degrees for 4 minutes. 

Open the drawer then shake around to move the prawns about.

Set it back on Air Fry at 190 degrees for another 2 minutes.

Check your prawns look golden and the curry leaves are crisp. Add a further 1 minute if you’d like. 

Take out and put on a serving plate. Squeeze over 1/4 to half a fresh lemon. 

Experience Finger Licking Good Air Fryer Spicy Prawns.

True Story:

We made these as an extra dish after a few drinks as the men were “still hungry” 

This recipe is fabulous and works even if you defrost the pawns quickly in cold water!

NOTE It’s really easy to make a dipping sauce based on the ingredients you have. Keep soya sauce, chilli flakes and a little sesame oil in your store cupboard. 

Add Fish Sauce if you’re ok with that. The above together with some fresh lemon or lime juice can see you through most sauce and marinade needs!

Chocolate Brownies - no flour or nuts

This chocolate brownie recipe has no flour or nuts. Neither does it have butter or sugar! Too good to be true? Absolutely not, it’s fabulous, so why not give it a go? Another lockdown first recipe for me!

I’ve used a small quantity here that I thought would last at least 4 or 5 days in the fridge. These chocolate brownies with no flour or nuts lasted precisely 2 days! So make in a larger batch if you need to!

3 INGREDIENT PANCAKES NO EGGS

3 ingredient pancakes - no eggs or flour

3 ingredient pancakes

Bananas, Oats and Milk. That’s it. You want to make your 3 ingredient pancakes VEGAN? Then just use a nut milk, like almond or even oat milk. You want to make your 3 ingredient pancakes gluten free? Then use gluten free oats.

There are one or two other ingredients you need like oil for frying and a pinch of baking powder, but I’m assuming you have these in your pantry or larder. A bit of cinnamon adds to taste if you like it and for those with a sweeter tooth, drizzle on a bit of good quality maple syrup and or some açai.

3 Ingredient Pancakes

  • bananas 1 and a 1/2

    Ripe but not overly ripe, I used medium size bananas.

  • Oats 60 grams

    So that's 3/4 cup or 1/2 cup of oats per banana. I used quick cooking oats from Mornflake as I had them in my cupboard, add a teaspoon of fibre if you like. I like Fibreful.

  • milk 180 mls

    So that's 1/4 cup per banana. I used Koita Organic Lactose Free milk, use what you like, or try with laban and a little water.

  • Pinch of baking powder

    You can also add a little cinnamon if you like and or a teaspoon of brown sugar.

  • Little oil to fry

    I use grapeseed oil

3 INGREDIENT PANCAKES NO EGGS OR FLOUR INGREDIENTS 1️⃣ BANANAS 1 and a 1/2 medium size ripe 2️⃣ MILK 180 mls (that's 60 mls or 1/4 cup milk per banana) 3️⃣ OATS 3/4 cup or 60 grams (that's 1/2 cup per banana) Pinch of baking powder Little oil to fry I use Grapeseed Assuming you have those 2 in your pantry.. OPTIONAL If you like a bit of extra sweet then add 1/2 teaspoon of good BROWN SUGAR into mix at this point. HOW TO MAKE 1️⃣ Whiz all above up NOT THE OIL, in a Nutribullet or blender 2️⃣ Take a tiny bowl or your 1/4 cup measure of the mixture and pour carefully into a preheated frying pan with a little oil spread over the base ✍? TOP TIPS WAIT till you see little bubbles then carefully flip till golden brown LOW HEAT is best so be patient CUT UP greaseproof paper into squares and use to separate each pancake DON’T WAIT to fry once you’ve made the mixture as the oats will thicken it up a bit ? DEVOUR As they are, or drizzle with tiny bit of maple syrup or melt a little blob of frozen acai on top Add your fave coffee on the side! ? ❓ Have you made pancakes during lockdown?
