A contemporary iftar pop up restaurant
The secret location of this iftar pop up restaurant is a real hidden gem in the true sense of the word. It’s in a warehouse in Al Quoz that’s been taken over for the month of Ramadan. Expect fairy lit paths and secret red doors that open up into a gorgeously contemporary dining experience, no buffets here. Just excellent quality Australian food in sharing portions brought to your table.
Book your spot now. Expect a set menu with a big focus on fresh, vegetarian produce that includes chargrilled asparagus, whole roasted purple and orange baby carrots with spicy shanklesh cheese and lime hummus topped with crushed pistachios. The signature lamb with rice was melt in the mouth and slow cooked for hours, no messy bits either.
Ramadan Nights by Dish Catering has thought of everything, including light, refreshing soft drinks, raspberry inspired desserts and a tea or coffee to finish. Book your spot now for a deliciously different iftar costing AED 195 per person. Iftar will be served from sunset to about 9.30, there will be no suhour meal offered here.

A get away from it all atmospheric iftar
I experienced the iftar offering at the Desert Palm last Ramadan and loved the atmosphere and stillness of the place. Look at the stars and the moon over the polo fields and feel the real essence of what Ramadan is about. No tall buildings in sight here, get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and feel the peace.
The iftar meal focuses on a mixture of freshly prepared mezzes, both hot and cold, an array of salads and a range of hot main courses, all brought fresh to your table. The desserts are both modern and classic.

Note that this year iftar will be served at the Epicure restaurant as Rare, their more formal dining area is undergoing a refurbishment and we’ll be bringing you up to date when it opens after the summer. The iftar this year costs a very reasonable AED 150.
Did I hear someone say the Desert Palm’s too far? Why not take advantage of their gorgeous offer and spend a night for just 50% of the normal price. Details of their Ramadan deals are here: Media Release – Desert Palm PER AQUUM Ramadan 2016.
We had an afternoon tea at Desert Palm and loved that too.

A traditional grand feast of an iftar
I’m talking about the Grand Iftar that’s been held for years at the Al Ameera ballroom at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Dubai. Arabic chefs from all over the GCC come in specially for the Grand Iftar and prepare traditional delicacies and foods famous from the region.
Expect an ouzi station, grand buffets with all kinds of salads, mezzes, and soups and then flaming grills with succulent, spiced meats served with fragrant rice dishes. The dessert counter won’t disappoint either. Soak up the lavish atmosphere of the Grand Iftar. AED 195 per adult.
