Looking for some sensible Eid lunch (or dinner) ideas this holiday?
Fed up of huge, overpriced buffet lunches in dark hotels? Don’t want to eat a massive meal in the middle of the day? But still want something healthy, tasty, sensibly priced with a lovely view? Then I highly recommend heading out to the cute restaurant complex in the Fishing Harbour village. It’s based in Jumeirah 1 and is a perfect venue for some sensible Eid lunch ideas you will love. Here’s what you need to know:
Food
There are at least 3 restaurants in the complex to choose from: Fresh and wild salad type Mediterranean food served at Omnia Gourmet. More traditional but very elegant Middle Eastern cuisine served at Bait Misk (no website as yet so we have linked to their instagram) And my choice which would be North Indian vegetarian and kebab offerings at Mint Leaf (nothing to do with Mint Leaf Dubai in DIFC Financial Tower) We were so hungry when we arrived, we ate at the very good Omnia Gourmet but didn’t realize there were other offerings till we wandered around a bit. The food here was very healthy, salad focused with some hot dishes such as lasagna and plenty of gluten free. We saw the Indian chefs plating up some tandoori food which had just come out of the Mint Leaf tandoor and this looked fresh, tasty and wholesome.
Ambience
No alcohol is served at any of these restaurants but the views make up for that. Especially at Bait Misk which has tables overlooking the sea with boats bobbing about. There is a real charm to the place despite it being recently built and while Omnia Gourmet is almost Bohemian in its décor, Mint Leaf is pretty and New Mughal at the same time! I loved it and am really looking forward to go for lunch again.
Location
This Jumeirah complex opened quietly in July and I think is already popular with locals who live in the area. My directions would be from Burj Al Arab to follow the Beach road (Jumeirah road) till the Uroba street junction, U turn here and turn right at villa 260 till you hit the complex by the beach. I hope they don’t build too much along here, but these additions are welcome.
Prices
Mint Leaf seemed the most reasonably priced of the 3 restaurants with chicken tikka at Dhs 29 and Vegetable biriyani at only Dhs 19. Salads at Omnia were nearer Dhs 59 for a plate. Do visit the complex and let them know you came on a recommendation from Monica at DoinDubai.
